Don, Carol and I all felt dreadful on Sunday morning for various reasons: lack of sleep, hangover, food poisoning etc.
Nonetheless we had given our word that we would meet our companions in Keld and were not about to let them down. Thus, we three zombies arrived at Keld (a Norse name meaning spring or fountain) to find it deserted. No longer under pressure to do any actual caving, we walked along the river to Muker, admiring Kisdon Force (from the Norse word fors, meaning an upland waterfall) along the way. We then walked back through the celebrated meadows and up to Swinner Gill. After exploring the tremendous 60m walking passage of Swinnergill Kirk right at the top of the gill, we had a look in Swinnergill lead mine, quite an interesting place.
This means we still have to go back!
