DonParticipant
Is it just cobbles, or dirt as well? I would imagine cobbles could be very easily removed. As long as there is somewhere spacious nearby to dump them.
DonParticipantI seem to recall reading a White or Red Rose trip report somewhat recently that said there is a low bedding plane at the end of the cave. It suggested that it would be possible for someone thin to push it, but that it would require a lot of nerve to do so given how constricted it is. Did you see anything like that?
How long did the trip take?
What are the two squeezes like? (never been in Langcliffe, so that description doesn’t help)
DonParticipantThe Whoop Hall isn’t dog friendly, that’s for sure.
DonParticipantDelightful barman? What a dick.
DonParticipantI would be extremely surprised if we were the first to take that route. It wasn’t hard to find and the two other inlets in the cave, both of which are described as tight, were explored to the bitter end. There’s no way that section of the cave was overlooked when it was being surveyed.
DonParticipantWhat should I write? How about ‘Alex is awesome!’
DonParticipantI don’t know why everyone always knocks me for taking off my helmet in narrow spaces and for occasionally entering squeezes and narrow crawls feet first. I haven’t lost my helmet yet. And I was very surprised to see Mr Scaife passing through the duck feet first, particularly as I was the first through and entered head first. Maybe others are finally starting to realise the wisdom of my ways…
DonParticipantIt’s only muddy in the lower half of the cave. We were all very clean by the time we got out!
DonParticipantIt’s called curse of Dowbergill because a) Jimmy had to be rescued on our trip back in August, b) my light failed exactly as I was getting ready to enter Providence, meaning I had to use my crappy backup as my main light source, and c) Sharman’s glasses fogged up as soon as we entered Providence. Admittedly the last one was rather minor, but still…
DonParticipantChris? Chris who?
DonParticipantIt’s definitely way too much gear for two people to carry. You need two bags for the rope and one for the SRT kits (at least to carry the metalwork). I don’t know how Sharman and I made it through the entrance crawl last time with three bags between us.
DonParticipantWe could always do the pull through…
DonParticipantOh, sorry. I thought he actually had twins. I’m not on Facebook so I don’t know what’s going on in the lives of Black Rose members unless they tell me face to face.
DonParticipantAre you the father of twins?!!!
DonParticipantWhy have you written ‘For non-club members’? Surely the only people who will see this message are club members (even though you posted the trip in the public area of the forum)? Unless you posted this on UKCaving as well?
