Chiss, could you bring the yellow sling and I assume a pink crab along please to next meet as I know who that belongs to and they would like it returned, thanks.
XandarModeratorYeh wish we had known that before taking 40m pull through rope with us. (Chris is referring to esculater rift pitches) the Bubbles pitch which we rigged was still the original old rope, put in when Dave was still at Inglesport.
XandarModeratorWe did a little extra than the normal trip as we went downstream to check on the rigging first braving the duck twice before finally doing it a 3rd time on the way out, by that time we were soaked to the bone anyway.
We did not have to rig them as Well pitch still had Euro speleo rope on it for some reason, we left our rigging bag on it so we were not de-rigged on (The other route was rigged as an emergency anyway, though of dubious vintage).
XandarModeratorWell don Chris and later Don. I feel bad for not de-rigging on Thursday as it seems it was possible to de-rig solo in an evening, but assumed I would be home too late. What time did you get home after the trip?
XandarModeratorWe also made a river crossing and visited ‘briefly’ another cave near the bottom. I think as we said at the time, we had far more fun getting down from the cave to the meeting spot than the actual caving itself. I think it was only 600m higher up by the way, so equiv just beyond camp one.
XandarModeratorHe keeps saying he will be the occasional caver but has asked to join the club by text message to make it “official”. He is keen though plans to do some SRT of bridges etc to get him more proficient at SRT. He loved the main chamber and mud hall and was not put off by any of the crawling, though his knee’s have not got used to the rocky crawls yet hehe.
As for me, I will probably drop my caving by about 30% (in general) so that is prob now about 2 out of 4 trips with the BRCC now at a guess. I am not available this weekend but am available the two weekends afterwards unless I am asked to join a pushing trip in a newly discovered cave (which I can’t name here on the public log book). Or get asked to help push Lancliffe. (Welcome to join the Lancliffe one, the new cave I am not so sure its not up to me).
The water was only coming down on the way out at about 5pm, we did not get underground until early afternoon. I think the rain had just added up, flood was impassable by then. So I guess it was a good job you had a quick trip otherwise you could have had issues in Notts.
XandarModeratorJust noticed this, rigged half way down the second is in-correct I got to the start of the main hang of the 3rd pitch.
XandarModeratorWas not on that trip so can’t be me for once then.
XandarModeratorScaif has it, along with a couple of Shaman’s mallons. (They wanted to leave it in there lol).
XandarModeratorLol watch Mike’s rigging dance at 4:50.
XandarModeratorDaz dropped them on the path on the way up? Or they fell off me while rigging… as they really do undo them selves. (Me and scaif noticed that).
XandarModeratorAm up for it, don’t want to do a too difficult trip just before Berger.
XandarModeratorLol, its like we are rigging a km deep cave or something! Well if dry enough I am ready to finish during the week or this weekend. By the way was there enough metal work? Was there more in one of the bags?
XandarModeratorI think those P-bolts are pretty new, most of the rescues took place when they were bolts, but there was a natural or two in there that could be used in an emergency so you are right, why get rescued?
