Good Berger training I bet, I need to do more ‘ropey’ stuff too, unfortunately except for evenings only weekend I am available is 11th.
XandarModeratorNo I meant “we” from what I read in the report, it sounds like it was a rubbish day. Stuck in ques, helping the enempt, and of course the inhospitality. Maybe you and Chris had different experiences.
XandarModeratorSo they would not offer you any water? Having read this trip report I thought this was the women I rescued from the top of Bar pot I think 3 years ago by simply pulling her up, but I think it may be a different women from what you put on the other post? Maybe she was not.
But anyway this sounds like precisely why we should avoid these winch meets from now onwards, sort of glad I am missing most of Euro Spelo as I am away and will have to be catching up on my work that week. Also am kind of glad nothing much is happening in the area that UWFRA covers, but no doubt CRO will become overwhelmed by all the idiots about and call on UWFRA. I guess I best let my work know in advance!
XandarModeratorFor those not on Facebook, here is the video of the trip:

One of my better ones so I am told
XandarModeratorYep it was just my face.
XandarModeratorDo you know Don, I actually have a bit of sunburn! Not had that in a while!
XandarModeratorWe wondered if you went though the slot or not. Sounds like you spent more time underground then us. Our trip was a bust. The first was full of dead sheep, the second we could not find (it had no grid ref) and the third cave only I fit though, though I pushed it to the near end. So really we spent most of the day wandering around in the sun, hence no trip report.
XandarModeratorI would have done Monday if I could have found the entrance on the surface.
XandarModeratorWhere does it say that? No I could not find the cave on the surface! I could not find the ent to Doctor Banisters or Novemember so went in via the underground route we took saturday.
XandarModeratorGood report.
Speaking of time my strap broke on my watch and I can only assume it fell off into the water somewhere along the crawls. Oh well gives me a reason to do it in reverse at some point.
XandarModeratorMay try it from Ireby fell at some point, there was a strong draft and looked passable. Ireby is also rigged and I have permission to use the ropes.
XandarModeratorMy trip report goes something like this (mostly copied from my post on UKC).
I was going to the Eastern front from Low Duke with Don and Mike but I decided to leave them for my own trip and headed off through the temple of doom and beyond as neither fancied a visit. (I had done the Eastern front a few times now).
After lots and lots of crawling and a bit of gingerly sliding pass some massive, loose looking boulders, I passed and a couple of easy ducks and two squeezes which took me to the end of the NFTFH description. Shortly afterwards at the end of the short bit of walking passage was the first duck. This was quite tight and hard to move in as the mud gave no purchase but was enough head room to breath. The second more of a constricted mud grovel than a duck, I found I could bypass by a climb but I did not know on the way in so was really worried about reversing it. The third seemed to have no end and was getting lower and muddier and I lost my bottle in the end knowing what I came through. It looked passable, as far as I could tell, but I did not want to go down a waterlogged, mud filled passage which is difficult to reverse without knowing how long it was. I also heard it was blocked. I prob only went forward about 10m or so to a corner where the passage looked smaller beyond but not ‘blocked’. Survey don’t really make much sense to me, it don’t actually seem connected. I am told the dig is not much longer than 15m so it may be worth re-visiting it, or trying it from Ireby end (been told I am welcome to use in-situ ropes).
I then reversed everything and met up with Don and Mike on the other-side of the Mousehole and headed out with them, well until I got cold and decided to make my own way out. Not sure on what Don and Mike were doing I think they were having a picnic in Low duke, sorry for not being sociable day light was calling me.
XandarModeratorGood report that hehe
XandarModeratorWet again is it? It was lovely and sunny in Spain :) ! Did 7 days of caving in a row then spent the last two walking about in the sun going down many a hole that did nothing.
Glad you are going up and down a lot Chris to get you used to Berger. We should do the traditional Berger training up and down Hunt pot without resting, though they did that on ladders.
XandarModeratorI was on that trip Scaif posted, and my memory also tells me at was at the bottom of the dig climb, though I do recall it looking quite a bit different lowerdown my guess as I said earlier is quite a bit of stuff has shifted. What happened in Long Kin East by the way?
