It might have been, I also had two peperami’s in my pocket too. They might be in the squeeze. Oh well when this Covid goes away, and the weather improves I will prob go back with Chris and try taking my over-suit off if it’s drier then it was, when me and Chris did it.
XandarModeratorNice one Chris, you don’t often solo do you? What do you think of caving on your own?
I should have done it this weekend myself, as avoiding people like the Plauge, well because of the plague lol, so I basically just stayed at home, so I can visit my parents safely (regardless of what Borris says, or changes his mind on again)
XandarModeratorAhh yes the infamous crawl to Broken finger, what a peace of piss it turned out to be (though not with all the pitch ropes I guess) rigging was easy and with a well placed sling so was the pitch. As there is a huge gap to crawl over, you can easily fit with your full SRT gear on. It’s a pity the Fatometer was actually tight and even impassible to me.
XandarModeratorI reckon we could go back in now and spend another four hours in there and everything would be different.
Probably because the roof would have collapsed some more and changed things.
We worked out, given the length of time in there, we must have walked about 8 miles at an average pace of 2 miles an hour.
There was lots to see including formations, but if you asked me to find them again, I doubt I could. We even found a few exits and found out dear old Sean Connery had died half way through the trip.
XandarModeratorXandarModeratorAye it does, though to be fair my mind has always been like this.
XandarModeratorXandarModeratorI have edited the title so your trip report comes up when people search for Broken Finger Pot.
P.s. to exemplify how tight that squeeze was and how much work it was getting back out. I can say I am still quite sore around my chest and it’s still quite painful to bend down and stand up due to bruising on my lower back caused by me retreating out of the squeeze.
XandarModeratorWell got an epic bike ride to do this afternoon, arranged an auto-locksmith to meet me at the car at 4pm it’s about 50 miles from my house!
XandarModeratorI must say I never intended to take my car keys underground, I forgot to remove them from the pocket, until the cave did that for me at some point.
XandarModeratorBreakdown company does not cover me for loss of keys anyway, so glad you gave me a lift home.
XandarModeratorVid now up,if anyone wants to see what the passage is like?
P.s. correction it’s called Lord’s Top not Lord Tots, but I like my name for it!
XandarModeratorI like your reports, Chris always a bit of comedy.
one where there is a choice of sliding through flat-out in the water via a narrower squeeze to the left.
I must have missed the dry alternative when I did it, or do you just mean squirm past the calcite while still in the stream, rather pointless as you still get wet I thought.
XandarModeratorFor those who were not there, when Chris says Rob handed the helmet to me, he mean’s Rob pushed his helmet ahead of him and dropped it down the pitch, where I was by this time 6m below. However, I caught it so I guess you could call it a long pass.
XandarModeratorOn it gradually it takes me a while to write these things and it’s a big report as I was including the stuff covered by Darren, I needed a report to go with the pictures I took.
