Yeh, I was originally thinking we descended at 6:30pm, but then I thought there was no way we could have driven up there and got changed that quick after meeting at 6:15. So I changed it, however, I forgot to change the total trip time.
XandarModeratorSounds like you had some fun, but you never got to go tackle sack fishing!
XandarModeratorI guess I must have not had a w**k for a while when I did it then.
Wow it was 8 years ago, I must had still been wet behind the ears! Dan must had managed to reverse it after going head first, with a little shove.
XandarModeratorI meant Rob and well Chris you would just have to man/women up :)
XandarModeratorIt’s a lot easier to move tackle if you go head first. Me and Ron managed it, before it was blasted.
XandarModeratorAlso I assume with Carol being self employed, it would be difficult to change her name. As people would know Carol by Carol’s original name.
XandarModeratorWe also named the traverse over the pit: “Tying the Knot”. The trip time for Fresnedo 2 was approx 11 hours, Chris’s log entry does not re-lay the overall and increasing difficulty of exploring the back-end. It was almost 4 hours on the way out from the new end. So that’s 7 hours travelling and 4 hours exploring.
XandarModerator[Admin] Deleted your old post Rob.
The mine deserves a bit more of a mention. To say it was large is an understatement. It was all following a high vertical vain, most of which was 60-70ft high.
A long slope led down to sumped passage, however this could be bypassed by a dodgy ladder on the right leading into yet more big passage.Apparently the mine is home to some natural caves, however some very deep, black water blocked our progress into this.
We also noticed many bats make this place their home as quite a few were making their exit and entry far above us as they went out for their evening hunt.
XandarModeratorI thought we boycotted the whoop hall, well Don certainly has. I guess an entire club boycott is in order. Anyway’s well done for getting to the bottom.
XandarModeratorYes the climb down was covered in this horrible black calcite, which was a slippery as Ice. If you climbed well slid down, you would not be getting back out again. Hand-line with foot loops required for it.
People present: Dunc, Rob and Alex
XandarModeratorThe dig at the end apparently goes to a 3rd chamber according to the NC2 description.
XandarModeratorPretty much all crawling… not much to it really.
XandarModeratorHmm so if I had come along, would WE have gotten much further? It don’t sound like there is room to put kit on at the end of the crawl so you would have to do it with kit on.
XandarModeratorAnd driving you to the Dales :)
XandarModeratorHowever, I was also the first person to clear out the entrance and slide through the water of diseases. When Chris says it smells, that’s an understatement it smelt like a blocked drain, that had been left for several months. Lets say I was dry heaving on the other-side and then Don insisted I bailed it from the other side once in. Don would not exit the cave either as a spider guarded it…
I was also the first over the squeeze into the chamber beyond and I did not know if I would fit or not and get stuck. I still went head-first though as I knew it was my best chance.
So we are all hero’s, except maybe Chris he did nout lol.
But what good is being a hero anyway? Don almost fell to his death/got stuck in a hole (6m pitch according to guide book) and I have probably contracted Wields disease from that water.
P.s. If anyone gorge walks along this, Upper Black dub cave is a great way to bypass the black-dub waterfall.
